So, it's the first day of the new year. And you might think this week's question would be about resolutions. But it won't be. I don't make New Year's resolutions. I stopped making them after I realized I never made much of an effort to begin with. Ok. So that's a lie. I would always start out really strong for the first month. And then after January I kind of just said, "Ah...screw it." So now I don't make them. That way if I end up doing something spontaneously awesome, I get to be really proud of myself. :)
A few nights ago I got curious as to how many books I read this year. I used to read all the time growing up. I read until Gage was born. And then I made excuses for going to the library. We would go maybe once every month or two, but before children I would go weekly. Then last Christmas I got my Kindle, and I started reading a lot again. I found myself checking out Pixel of Ink every day, and downloading whatever free books sounded interesting. It was a lot like going to the library without a specific title in mind. Sometimes what you picked out would be good, sometimes not so much.
Anyway, I counted and I read 61 books this year! I couldn't believe it. I had to go back and recount. And I am talking about legit adult stuff (although some were considered YA. I think it's a weakness, like Degrassi.) If we counted all the children books I read this year, it would be up in the thousands. :) I was so excited. I couldn't believe I had read so much. I thought it was pretty....cool.
So this week, I want to know something that you did in 2012 that you thought was cool. Maybe you traveled to an awesome destination, or picked up a new hobby? Or maybe you even completed all the resolutions you made for yourself. Perhaps you finally got off your rear and became organized. (That was a slam directed at me....because I used to make that resolution every year and keep it up with it for just a couple of weeks.)
What is something cool that you did last year? I know that everyone did at least one thing they are proud of. Even if it is super nerdy like me.
