just take the tree down already!

Now that everyone is sick and tired of seeing Christmas pictures, I am ready to show mine. I don't know about other people, but since I have redheaded kids, it seems like red eye is picked up on every single picture that I take, and I am always having to make our eyes look human again. For some reason it's always worse on me and Gage.

First up, on Christmas Eve we went to Memaw's house for lunch. Every year we have a junk food buffet. It has always been one of my favorite days of the year.
Memaw made a dessert tray out of melted peppermint candies.
I'm so excited that Gage enjoyed playing Kerplunk. It was one of my favorites as a kid.
After the afternoon at Memaw's, we headed back home. Peppy's dad and stepmom came over and had dinner with us. Santa even called Gage and Owsley from his sleigh!
Peppy decided that Santa would surprise Gage with a new bike. He had had his other one since he was three, and it was way too small. Santa also decided to put Owsley's trike together (that he had gotten on his birthday.)
Santa divided the presents up into three sections. One for Gage, one for Owsley, and one to share. Also, our Santa doesn't wrap presents. He never has. And he never will. I hate wrapping presents, and my parents never wrapped ours when I was younger. I never even knew that Santa was supposed to wrap presents until Gage's first Christmas, when Peppy asked me, "Uh...are you not going to wrap those?"
Gage is really into Angry Birds right now. But here's the funny thing, he's only played it maybe 10 times on my Kindle. He just decided that it's awesome, and he gets excited to see Angry Bird stuff.
The play food turned out to be one of the best presents. We have played restaurant for over an hour every day since Christmas. They have a kitchen upstairs, but all the food got lost years ago when Gage was Owsley's age.
Every year my mom gets the boys an autographed book from whatever author comes and visits the school she teaches at. Those always end up being some of Gage's favorite books to read, because he really likes when we read the personalized message.

The boys also got new bikes to keep at my parent's house.
Don't worry, they do wear helmets.....
My mom had personalized calendars made for me and my brothers. I'm not really sure what picture I was looking at, but I don't think it had Peppy's approval.

Later Christmas night we went over to Peppy's aunt's house for dinner. I never end up taking any pictures over at Pidge's house because there are eight kids running around, and as soon as you open up the door there is so much excitement going on that I don't even think about breaking out my camera. There was one family picture taken, which is pretty awesome considering we had to get about 20 adults and 8 kids to look in the same direction while waiting ten seconds for the self timer to go off. But since I don't have a facebook account, I have yet to see said picture. I bet you anything I have red eye.

Oh, your kids are adorable as always. Love the picture of you and your husband :) You look lovely! I hate red eye--try not using flash to help with this issue.

my only problem with not using the flash is that i've got a semi crappy camera. (and aside from being outside) if i try to take a picture without the flash, everyone better be standing absolutely still, or it's going to be super blurry. :-/

i should probably invest in a better camera. OR we will just take all of the pictures outside. :) natural lightening does look better anyway.

Aw, so cute! I saw that tray idea on Pinterest earlier this year and wanted to make it but imagined it would feel sticky. Is it sticky?

And for the record, Santa didn't wrap mine or my husband's presents either. I asked him what his plans are and he said that he hates wrapping presents and won't be wrapping Baby Bell's. =]

Great Christmas pictures! Looks like your holidays were a blast. Your Memaw's platter is the best one I've seen since I saw an example on Pinterest. Everyone else's seems to shrink on one side, expand on another and melt and bubble. Her's is great!
We had a large fireplace and our Santa presents were always laid out unwrapped on the hearth under where our stocking hung.

I saw those candy trays made on TV. It looks so easy and they come out pretty.

It's always fun to unwrap presents, but the clean up is the worst! I like your method and it saves trees. ;)

Play food is a favorite gift here too. (As I sit here with a lap full of plastic pizza, banana and corn)

Owsley looks like such a big boy in that first trike pic!!

Love the pictures! I like the element of surprise when something is wrapped and how pretty it looks. But I loathe it with a passion.

What a great Christmas! Gage and Owsley looked like they had a blast with their new bikes!

I may never wrap a gift again after reading this!

Owsley looks like he's having a great time on his red trike! Bikes are such a great gift for kids. Merry Christmas to you guys!

ps. We still have our tree up - we're actually not having Christmas with my husband's family until Jan. 4th!

What a fun Christmas! So interesting about not wrapping the gifts, I love hearing how different each family's Christmas is.
